35 Year Anniversary Fundraiser for

Wah’nah’jass Hilth’hooiss

(Meares Island Tribal Park, Tla-o-qui-aht)

On this 35 year anniversary of the Meares Island Tribal Park, we are celebrating what was accomplished in 1984 and cultivating hope among our young people for the unborn generations to come. Awareness and funds will be raised for the restoration of Opitsaht, one of Canada’s oldest villages located on Meares Island. Opitsaht was destroyed in the late 1700’s during early contact with newcomers and will be rebuilt for the legacy of the 35 year anniversary of the Meares Island Tribal Park.

GoFundMe Campaign

the Meares 35 GoFundMe Campaign

With this campaign, we will take a significant communal step to rebuild the ancient Tla-o-qui-aht Village of Opitsaht, located on Meares Island in Clayoquot Sound, British Columbia. Our GoFundMe campaign goal is to raise $350,000 toward the $35 Million needed to rebuild Opitsaht, which was once one of America’s most prosperous communities north of Mexico City.
